A Millennial Dream Come True At Innings Festival Tempe 2026

On a warm yet still cool February weekend, throngs of energized people gathered along the banks of Tempe’s Salt River. Scents of delicious foods, the crack of bat on baseball, enthusiastic musicians, and more filled the air.

In 2026, Innings Festival returned to Tempe, Arizona for the eighth time.

It sure felt great to be back.

Walking around the baseball-themed two-day festival is always a delight. Except this time, something was different. Well, more than a few things to be honest. For their eighth year, the festival went bigger.

That’s right, the two-day baseball themed music festival became a three-day baseball themed music festival. One headlined by the likes of Mumford & Sons, Blink-182, Twenty-One Pilots, Goo Goo Dolls, Myles Smith, Public Enemy, Sublime, Cage the Elephant, and Lord Huron amongst so many more. All of this surrounding the usual baseball related offerings from batting cages to the Off The Mound show to meeting MLB legends like Brandon Crawford, Torii Hunter, Dontrelle Willis, Jake Peavy, Archie Bradley, Miguel Montero, and others.

That’s all not forgetting the array of food options and the considerable amount of alcohol and drinks to consume.

Striding into the Tempe Beach Park each year feels like coming home in a way.

Vibes were off the charts from day one, as people happily milled about the park and took in the sights and sounds. Plenty of folks were clad in uniforms and even costumes in some cases, showcasing their love for teams or musical acts or both at the same time.

A bigger festival meant that some things shifted and others were taken up a notch.

One of the improvements that stood out was large structures scattered throughout the park with the full three-day schedule, the map, and more emblazoned on different sides. New arch signage showed where food and bar spaces were to be found. All of it made the festival even easier to navigate for veterans and rookies alike.

As noted in the headline, many of the acts were very heavily Millennial coded in their eras and fandoms. Being of that generation, I definitely found a lot to connect with and enjoy across the days. I camped out for numerous bands on the third day, utilizing some of the tips and tricks I learned last year.

There was a much more unified theme across the musical acts this year compared to the last. Where the first day felt very synchronized but the second was a bit more hodgepodge-like. Not that it was bad, check out how much I enjoyed 2025’s show, but just not as united as this year felt like.

In 2025, crowds seemed to taper off some on the second day, but that wasn’t the case this year. In fact, the crowds only seemed to grow bigger by the day. With the new Sunday festivities garnering a ton of attention. By the time the latest sets were going, it was increasingly difficult to navigate around the paths or anywhere else. Suffice it to say, if you were in the thick of things, you were certainly getting up close and personal with many fellow music fans.

Showmanship was the name of the game again this year. With various bands getting truly interactive with the crowds. From a full group sing-along to Goo Goo Dolls’ “Iris” to Bowling For Soup playfully razzing the crowd and their fellow guests to Twenty-One Pilots sending their drummer up a massive platform to play while the lead singer bounded into the pricey Cabana area.

Many of the vendors and spaces were more spread out than before. Some more thought given to where things might best fit and more avenues opened to ease the traffic to each stage. With the increase in days the number of bathrooms and types also saw an improvement. (Though calling outside urinals that are dudes pissing into a trough an upgrade feels silly, it kind of was.) Far more stalls were available all around, easing the congestion quite a bit comparatively.

Even some of the seating, for higher paid customers, saw some upticks this year. VIP ticket holders got themselves a dedicated seated viewing platform at Home Plate Stage this time around. Much like what the Bungalow and Cabana level guests enjoy but of course, much simpler. Can’t have all the same bells and whistles when one is talking about tens of thousands of dollars price difference.

Overall, the extended festival atmosphere in 2026 was spectacular and very welcome. Hopefully this is the regular going forward with the third day and even more acts. Seeing the festival growing up even in just the three years I’ve been attending is neat. Who knows what might come of the events and offerings with the ninth, tenth, or more years to come.

All I know is that whatever they do, I’ll be there to write and check everything out. Sometimes being a journalist isn’t the hardest thing to do.
