‘Marcus Walker: Kingslayer Protocol’ Comes to Kickstarter With Strong Endorsements And Cool Covers

by Anton Kromoff

Welcome to the table,

Strange giant monsters are always going to make me smile. And when you throw in giant robots, themes of family and self-discovery, radical art, and the endorsement of a showrunner from Netflix’s live-action One Piece, you have crafted something that will catch my attention.

Let’s get into it.

Created by writer Chris Tates and Simone Ragazzoni, Marcus Walker: Kingslayer Protocol is a brand-new creator-owned comic series coming to Kickstarter. It captures a moment when war wages between Kaiju and Kingslayer Mechs. Pilot Marcus Walker is forced into hiding in New Honolulu City under the vigilant watch of his authoritarian family, who are trying to protect him but may be taking away too much of his freedom to do so.

Marcus Walker: Kingslayer Protocol is a heart-pounding thriller that explores the nature of trauma and the unseen chokehold of the past. A rollicking family adventure with big fights and bigger feels,” says  Steven Maeda, co-creator, showrunner, and writer of Netflix’s One Piece.

This thing is going to have a ton of exclusive one-of-a-kind covers from the likes of my pal and NYT Bestseller Sean Murphy, in addition to Siya Oum, Rob Guillory, and Kevin Keane — all part of the Kickstarter that launched March 3rd.

Until next time, I’m pretty stoked for this one. It plays to my fandoms — and more than that, I always dig when original stories with a solid hook hit the market under the control of their creators. In Marcus Walker: Kingslayer Protocol, you get a comic that explores themes of family and self-discovery through Mech vs Kaiju action. It’s an ideal match for fans of Ultraman: Rising, Big Hero Six, and Power Rangers.
