Dynamite Begins Compact Editions Program With June’s ‘Pathfinder: Dark Waters Rising’

Adventure finds a new way to readers.

Dynamite announced Thursday its plan for Compact Editions of some of its most beloved books. The format aims to create affordable volumes for new readers — either in stores or via friends willing to lend the new tomes. Inaugurating the program: Pathfinder: Dark Waters Rising.

The new edition will feature 224 pages of story in a 5.5″ by 8.5″ container priced at $9.99. It reprints issues #1-6 of the 2012 Pathfinder series, plus a 10-page tale called “The Last Mosswood Goblin” and “over 30 pages of worldbuilding details to both enhance the story and assist in playing the titular tabletop roleplaying game.” Writer Jim Zub and artist Andrew Huerta weave the story of Valeros, a warrior in the company of the sorceress Seoni, elf rogue Merisiel, the wizard Ezren, a dwarven ranger called Harsk, and Kyra the cleric. But this group of adventurers, who trust their abilities and each other, is “unprepared for the threats that lie in wait. The fragmented goblin tribes of Varisia are coming together in unprecedented ways.”

Pathfinder: Dark Waters Rising is set for release in June with additional Compact Editions of other Dynamite titles already in the works.
