Daredevil Day: Toy Review– Marvel Legends The Kingpin Shines

He’s one of Marvel’s greatest villains, and recently the Kingpin saw a reissue of his classic look in Hasbro’s Marvel Legends line.
Daredevil: Born Again season 2 hits Disney+ today, continuing the narrative of Matt Murdock’s (Charlie Cox) struggle against Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio). Daredevil isn’t Fisk’s only arch-foe and the legendary villain appeared extensively in the 1990s Spider-Man animated series. His look there was based heavily on his original design by John Romita in Amazing Spider-Man #50 and was translated into this Marvel Legends figure.
Wilson Fisk was a bullied child, raised in a dysfunctional family. As he grew, he began training himself and focused on his physical strength. He later began working as a Maggia enforcer, leading to taking over the territory of Don Rigoletto, and establishing his own criminal empire.
Obviously the figure was reissued to be available just ahead of the second season of Daredevil. It perfectly captures Fisk’s comics look. Though it’s not exactly what the Kingpin looked like originally, it’s fairly close, and it captures the look of the cartoon incredibly well, down to the jeweled cane.
This figure is massive. The card itself is several inches bigger than a standard figure’s, and the figure itself is huge. Its easily at least an inch taller than most of the standard Legends figures. That captures the spirit of Fisk’s massive and physically imposing presence. It makes up for the extremely limited accessories (just the alternate head and cane). An additional gripping hand is the only thing I think it’s lacking.
Now, at its size, and based on the sculpt, the posing here is limited. I don’t need it to pose extensively though. Some limited leg movement, and a few arm poses is enough to fit Fisk. What I can do with him shows the physicality of the Kingpin — he doesn’t need to get his hands dirty, but when he does its with brutal efficiency.
This is a figure I’ve had my eye on for ages, and the reissue came at the perfect time. It’s a great representation of one of the greatest characters in comics.
