Konami Offers Commentary On Their Upcoming ‘Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse’

Thanks to the Netflix cartoon series, Castlevania has become a major video game franchise again. Knowing that, it’s almost surprising that it took so long for a new project to get announced. Still, Konami has teamed up with the developers at Evil Empire (Dead Cells) to give the franchise a new title in Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse. Now, the developers have sat down with the latest footage of the game to offer commentary on it.

Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse is set in Paris in 1499, following the latest successor to the Belmont name as they wield the Vampire Killer and try to rescue the streets of Paris from a wave of monstrous creatures threatening its streets.  Interestingly, rather than taking place entirely in Dracula’s castle, players will spend quite a bit of time exploring Paris itself, while battling some familiar foes like corrupted legendary characters, like Joan of Arc. That said, they make it clear that Dracula’s castle is definitely a part of the game, and it sounds like it’ll be a game-changer when it finally appears.

Though they’re far behind Capcom in terms of games released for now, it’s great to see Konami is finally getting back to the franchises people care about. Now that Silent Hill is back, hopefully Castlevania can be next.

Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse is planned for release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch, and Steam.
