‘Space Ghost’ Annual #2 Sets A Summer Launch

by Erik Amaya

Space Ghost continues to soar at Dynamite.

The company’s reinvention of the lovable Hanna-Barbera cartoon series is well into its “second season” and July’s Space Ghost Annual #2 continues the tale as both a capstone of the current story and a preview of what’s next. Space Ghost, Jan, and Jace attempt to mourn their recent losses, but their grief is interrupted when master thief Magnus and his mysterious, reality-warping partner known only as The Alien plot a new, dangerous heist. The team regather to learn the “deadly secret behind this mind-bending, cosmic crime spree. “

Additionally, the annual also acts as a prelude to the next adventure: a meeting between the team and The Herculoids. Dynamite promises more information on that crossover soon.

“The Hanna-Barbera Universe is about to get a whole lot bigger in the pages of Space Ghost,” writer David Pepose said in a statement. “It’s been such an incredible gift to work on the galaxy’s greatest superheroes with my amazing collaborators Jonathan Lau, Andrew Dalhouse, and Taylor Esposito — and we’re only just getting started! We are truly grateful for all the incredible support of the readers, retailers, and press who have championed our run from the very beginning — with Space Ghost Annual #2, we’re wrapping up our second year with action, excitement, and heart, setting the stage for more exciting Space Ghost adventures to come.”

Lau continues as artist on the annual. He also provides a cover alongside artist Bjorn Barends, Tom Raney, and the legendary Jerry Ordway.

Space Ghost Annual #2 arrives in shops this July.
