Newest Marvel Mystery Bags Celebrate Doom (And 616 Day)
by Tony Thornley
Marvel’s True Believers blind bags are a phenomenon in the middle of a gimmick, as they now have announced the program for all of their major event releases this summer. Yesterday, the publisher announced the next entry in the series, and it centers on the one and only Doctor Doom.

With Victor Von Doom celebrating a banner year — he takes center stage in this winter’s Avengers: Doomsday — Marvel Comics is giving fans what they want: more of their greatest villain. On June 16th, 2026, AKA 616 Day, they’ll release the latest of the True Believers blind bags, this time celebrating Doom with two big issues.

The bags will contain:
- One exclusive black & white edition of Doomquest #1, the upcoming epic by Ryan North and Francesco Mobili, with an exclusive variant cover by Simone Bianchi or an ultra-rare, hand-drawn, original sketch cover by a surprise artist.
- One facsimile edition of a classic Doctor Doom story, either with its original cover or a variant cover by a modern superstar:
- Avengers #25 Facsimile Edition
- Avengers #25 Facsimile Edition w/ Alessandro Cappuccio Variant Cover
- Fantastic Four #258 Facsimile Edition
- Fantastic Four #258 Facsimile Edition w/ Peach Momoko Variant Cover
- Iron Man #149 Facsimile Edition
- Iron Man #149 Facsimile Edition Dan Panosian Variant Cover
- A Doctor Doom paper mask featuring artwork by the legendary Jack Kirby!
Doom is widely considered to be Marvel’s greatest villain and rightfully is at the center of some of the greatest comic stories the publisher has ever told. While he’s been adapted to film before, a lot of fans have felt he’s never been done “right” so Avengers: Doomsday seems to be that change. These stories are some of Doom’s greats, though I personally also would have added Uncanny X-Men #147 and one issue of Jonathan Hickman‘s Secret Wars as well.
Check out the covers above and watch for 616 Day True Believers Blind Bags on June 16th, 2026.
