Crowdfunding Comics: Hunt Emerson Celebrates His Colourful Career In Comics With ’50-Odd Years Of Big Noses’

Here in the UK, whether as a child, adolescent or adult, chances are you’ve come across the hilarious and oftentimes satirical work of Hunt Emerson, a true British treasure. A man who has worked in recent years on The Beano, as well as having created irreverent adaptations of literary classics like The Rime of the Ancient Mariner and Lady Chatterley’s Lover.

In his early years, he worked in the underground comics scene before embarking on an ideal publishing relationship with Knockabout Comics. That and his foray into soft porn magazines with his Firkin the Cat strips, as well as working with the Fortean Times and teaching, and I’m surprised five decades of comic work could fit into just the one volume. But it does, and the crowdfunding campaign on Zoop for the collection — humorously titled 50-odd Years of Big Noses — has now started counting down.
