Review: ‘The Seasons’ #10 Has A Riddle Sustaining The Mystery

Summary
One’s art is law. At least this is the case in Winter Seasons’s personal kingdom. Yet, two of her sisters are ready to enact a plan to free Winter and their world from this situation. However, can the two save the day when Autumn Seasons’s riddle remains?
Overall
9/10Writer Rick Remender creates another strong script for this series. While there are some time skips in this issue, they should not result in a buyer having a jarring reading experience. In fact, they are of the usual sort one would find in most comics. It is also worth mentioning that there is a lot of believable and realistic moments of levity. Another strong element is the continuance of the over-arcing mystery of the Seasons family and how it might relate to the Ringleader. Though this element does not overshadow the issue’s almost episodic plot. Instead, Remender seems to mix the two in a way where the former is serving as a reminder that there is a larger story still in need of telling.
Artist Paul Azaceta creates a design for the main cover that may evoke the Disney movie villainess Maleficent in some people’s minds (Sleeping Beauty [1959]). Unfortunately, it also may not grab some potential readers’ attention because of the darker hues. Nevertheless, those readers who are willing to pick this issue up should find some of the characterization and page layouts enticing. Although some may find the age rating to be at odds with some of the clothing characters are in. However, it is no different than any older comics that feature Marvel’s Emma Frost or the Hellfire Club with the Comics Code Authority label.
Colorist Matheus Lopes is getting to utilize a slightly wider range of hues in this issue versus the prior one. There is also a panel of negative space that allows Lopes to show off a bit with a little careful color enhancement.
Letterer Rus Wooton does well at bolding words to add emphasis to the text. This helps highlight some of the innuendoes in a way that arguably also enhances their comedic value.
Cover B is the creation of artist Roberto Ali and colorist Chris Chuckry. The art and colors appear to enhance the characterization one can see on this variant.
