Bad Idea’s ‘Warbird’ Gets An 8-Bit Gameboy Compatible Game

by Olly MacNamee

We reported on Bad Idea’s comic book Warbird earlier today, an aerial thriller from screenwriter/creator of John WickDerek Kolstad, writer Robert Venditti, artist Alex Maleev, and colourist Dean White. But it doesn’t end there. Bad Idea has developed a playable 8-bit Shoot ‘Em Up Warbird video game, compatible with any Game Boy system. But you’ll be lucky to get your hands on one, as only 36 copies of Warbird: The Console Game are being produced.

Step into the cockpit of one of the next-gen Russian Spearhead jets and play as high-end repo man Cole Norton. It’s time to complete your mission and get the deadly jet safely into the hands of the US military. But prepare for enemy fire! The Russians aren’t letting their crown jewel get away without a fight. They’ve sent the remaining Spearheads on a search and destroy mission with orders to fire at will!

The box art is by Eisner Award-winner Frank Quitely, the artist behind the designs of Warbird, and in-game art directly inspired by Eisner Award-winning interior artist Alex Maleev.

Warbird #1 is out on Wednesday, 22nd July, from Bad Idea.
