It’s A Split For The Ages In ‘Supernatural: Wayward Special’ #1

Nothing can break Sam and Dean Winchester’s bond. Except maybe what occurs in Dynamite’s upcoming Supernatural: Wayward Special #1.

The company announced Thursday that the one-shot from writer Paulina Ganucheau and John Amor “sets the table for the explosive event to come.” Sam and Dean’s shared blood and purpose is tested by “horrible, hellish forces” that could “drive these brothers to travel separate roads.” What could it be and do any familiar Supernatural characters have anything to do with it?

Although spending a long time apart before the television series began, the Winchester brotherly bond is a key element of the entire premise. That said, they have been known to take sabbaticals from one other — or moving on when one or the other appeared lost in Hell. Testing that bond is the point of many Supernatural stories and it will be interesting to see how this unfolds and, should they spend time apart, what will bring them back together.

The special is supported by an Amor cover depicting Sam, Dean, and Baby. Two additional photo covers and blind bag variants will also be on offer.
