SDCC 2026: The Skybound Energon Universe Roundup

During Comic-Con International: San Diego (SDCC) this weekend, Skybound, Image Comics, and Hasbro shared new covers and character designs from the Energon Universe panel featuring Robert Kirkman, Joshua Williamson, Conor Hughes and Sean Mackiewicz.
There were covers and character designs for M.A.S.K. ( Trakker’s son Scott, and his protector T-Bob), by writer Dan Watters and artist Pye Parr, as well as Void Rivals, G.I. Joe — with the all-new Cobra character named Major Medusa being revealed for the first time — and Transformers. All covering upcoming storylines, like the return of ROM in Void Rivals, G.I. Joe versus Night Force and the introduction in Transformers of Superion and sidekick, Thundercracker, literally his right-hand man.
As well as these revelations, Energon Universe comics architects Kirkman and Sean Mackiewicz also teased the future of the Transformers, and “how far Elita Prime might go to win the war,” while also announcing comic book veteran Karl Kerschl as guest artist on Transformers #37.
