SDCC 2026: Fail To Save The Universe In The Comic Center of Pasadena Activation

HBO Max promoted their new original comedy Stuart Fails To Save the Universe with an activation at San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) 2026. It transported attendees to The Comic Center of Pasadena, which fans of The Big Bang Theory were familiar with.
The activation is a narrative-driven journey allowing visitors to experience multiple realities, and like the titular character, have opportunities to fail to save the universe. There are a multitude of universes to explore, but unfortunately you can only explore three using the provided Comic Center membership card. The points accrued on the membership card will be used later. Each multiverse is hilariously unique creating equally hilariously situations as you attempt to locate a device.
Similar to other SDCC activations from the past and present, there are actors serving as comic shop employees to interact with and Kevin Sussman’s Stuart Bloom even makes an appearance via a universal portal. The most impressive part is the level of detail inside the Comic Center. You feel the Warner Bros. synergy with so much great DC Comics memorabilia littered throughout and nods to other owned franchises like It. You could easily spend an entire day looking at everything that gives the feeling of an actual lived-in local comic book shop (LCS).
The SWAG is top notch as well. Going back to the level of detail, it comes in a brown paper bag with the Comic Center’s logo stamped on the outside. Not even our own LCS still does this. Inside comes a special Stuart Fails To Save the Universe comic and a box of red vines. You also receive a graded hero card in its plastic case. It resembles one of the characters from Stuart Fails To Save the Universe with the card you receive based on the decisions you made in the multiverses. Finally, there is also a nice T-shirt given as well.
Out of all the activations at SDCC 2026, The Comic Center of Pasadena might be the best bang for your time. It doesn’t have any reservation system and seems to have a good throughput of people in an hour. When we went, at approximately 5:45 pm, the line wasn’t that long. It is a cool interactive experience with some great SWAG in the end.
