Gen Con 2026: ‘Dungeons & Dragons’ Magical Announcements Around Greyhawk And The Witch Queen
by Anton Kromoff
Welcome to the table,
The world of Greyhawk started as a dungeon under a castle. The setting was designed by Gary Gygax and served as a way to delight and amuse his friends and family by providing them a new place to explore and adventure within at the gaming table.
From those humble beginnings, Greyhawk would become a vast world setting that made up sprawling environments, complex cultures, and even a “living” campaign setting that I played in as a kid with other TTRPG enthusiasts.
So it was exciting to see the Gen Con 2026 announcement of this well-lauded setting’s newest adventure addition, Greyhawk: Crown of the Witch Queen.

This brand-new adventure is going to see players returning to Greyhawk to fight for its fate against the scent of Drelnza, the vampire daughter of Iggwilv the Witch Queen. She many may know better as the iconic Tasha.

Bringing Drelnza into things gives me hope we may return to 1982’s The Lost Caverns of Tsojcanth adventure in some meaningful way. It can bolster some interest in the very cool anthology adventure book Quests from the Infinite Staircase that was released back in 2024. Both of these heavily tie to Drenlnza’s lineage and Tasha and would provide some opportunities to explore older adventure settings through a lens that could see them evolved from where we last left them.

I’m also really curious to see how Tasha feels about her kid coming for her title and crown. If you had Tasha as your player characters’ patron, there may be some opportunities for there to be some solid meta lore conflict built into the story for players to really sink into the role play elements of it all.

In other exciting Tasha-themed news, Dungeons & Dragons‘s upcoming video game Warlock has announced that the main characters Warlock patron will be the enigmatic Tasha herself. Award-winning actor Maggie Robertson will step into the role through voice and performance capture, opposite Tricia Helfer, who leads the game as Kaatri.
For those not in the know, Warlock is an original third-person, single-player action-adventure game set in a dark fantasy open world inspired by D&D and developed by Invoke Studios. The first look at game play will be coming August 25th as part of the opening night live at Gamescom.

It’s also important to note that Luke Gygax, son of the late Gary Gygax, one of the creators of Dungeons & Dragons, will be joining with Joe Manganiello, the newly announced D&D Chief Creative Officer for Dungeons & Dragons Icons to helm a never-before-seen project. It’s built from unfinished concepts left behind by the elder Gygax. Luck will complete the adventure through his father’s eyes. It will also be set in the storied world of Greyhawk.
Greyhawk fans new and old are eating well this weekend thanks to all these amazing Gen Con announcements!
Until next time, I’m incredibly excited to see how all of this plays out at the table and will update you as soon as we get more news.
