Hammer Films Releasing Classic ‘The Abominable Snowman’ Plus Fun With Vampires And Vinyl

Legendary UK movie house Hammer Films has been a physical media tear lately, releasing a steady stream of spooky 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and even vinyl releases. It continues in the coming months with an ice cold classic on 4K UHD, a rare soundtrack, and more.

First up is Hammer’s most recent entry in their ongoing series of massive 4K UHD boxsets. 1957’s The Abominable Snowman follows in the footsteps of Captain Kronos: Vampire Hunter, X the Unknown, and The Quatermass Xperiment. Like those releases, this new limited edition boxset will be packed with extra features and housed in fancy, deluxe packaging including a book, posters, lobby cards, and more. Directed by Hammer vet Val Guest (the Quatermass films) and starring studio regular Peter Cushing, The Abominable Snowman has been restored in 4K black and white and will be available August 31st.

Next up, 1971’s Incense For the Damned (aka Bloodsuckers) will make its UK Blu-ray debut as part of the Hammer Presents collection. The 1971 vampire film features a trio of UK genre acting legends, including Cushing, Patrick Macnee (The Avengers), and Edward Woodward (The Wicker Man), and promises a spooky, psychedelic romp.

After releasing the soundtrack to 1974’s Shatter, Hammer continues to mine their library with the announcement of the LP soundtrack of the aforementioned Captain Kronos: Vampire Hunter. Featuring music by legendary composer Laurie Johnson, the score is being released on wax for the very first time, on 2-disc blue vinyl.
