Marvel Comics Returns To The Last Moments Of The Multiverse In New ‘Incursions’ Event

Incursions. They were the ominous events that kicked off one of the most creatively fertile and rich storytelling eras of Marvel Comics, and in November the publisher returns to that moment when Time Ran Out.
In the run up to the now-classic Secret Wars, the shadowy cabal known as the Illuminati learned that multiversal incursions were bringing multiple alternate Earths to an end. These heroes faced an impossible quest — find a way to stop the incursions while protecting their Earth. These heroes ended up compromising everything they stood for to save the universe, as revealed in the events of New Avengers, written by Jonathan Hickman.
But not every universe had an Illuminati to protect them. And in others, it wasn’t enough.
In a new event, kicking off in November, Marvel returns to the build up to Secret Wars with five new one-shots, each telling the tale of two universes in their final moments. The event kicks off with X-Men: Incursions from Alex Paknadel and Jim Towe, continues in Spider-Man: Incursions from Christos Gage, Fantastic Four: Incursions by Ethan S. Parker, Griffin Sheridan and Paco Medina, X-Men ‘92: Incursions by Chris Yost and Craig Kyle, and Avengers: Incursions by Al Ewing and Fran Mariscal Mancilla.
This event goes back to those tense months before Secret Wars. The incursions are a central focus of December’s Avengers: Doomsday as well, introducing the concept at the end of Doctor Strange In the Multiverse of Madness.

Kicking off the series, Paknadel said “As someone who sincerely relishes the challenge of dancing between the raindrops of continuity, this project was all my Christmases come at once. I got to tell a story about what really matters, and I got to do it against the backdrop of three (!) of the biggest Marvel events of all time. I really love my job sometimes.”
