Chris Mooneyham’s “Vintage Joe” Variant Covers For ‘G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero/Tomb Raider’ Revealed

Skybound, Image Comics, Hasbro, and video game developer Crystal Dynamics have revealed the variant covers that artist Chris Mooneyham (G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero) has produced for the five-issue miniseries, G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero/Tomb Raider. As previously reported, this new series is written by Kyle Higgins (Immortal Legend Batman, Radiant Black), with art by Elena Casagrande (Black Widow), colours by Alex Guimarães (Invaders), and letters by Pat Brosseau (G.I Joe: A Real American Hero), and debuts next month.

 

Mooneyham has created a series of “Vintage Joe” variant cover series featuring Lara Croft and G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero characters and will occupy the D cover slot as a 1:25 incentive variant for all five issues.

G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero/Tomb Raider #1 features a main cover by Elena Casagrande & Alex Guimarães, as well as an open-to-order variant and Foil cover by Stjepan Sejic, a 1:50 variant by Leirix, a 1:100 incentive variant by Lorenzo Tammetta & Mike Spicer and a blank sketch variant.

G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero/Tomb Raider #1 is out on Wednesday, 7th October, 2026, from Skybound/Image Comics.
