‘The Experience’ To Honor And Remember The Fallen On 9/11

In the US, 9/11 is a stinging date. It is the anniversary of the World Trade Center destruction and the start of a prolonged pain for the country. But 25 years on, it is also a chance to honor those who lost their lives in the attack and those who worked so hard to save people in the midst of the devastation.
And, as it happens, The Experience will do both on Friday night’s original art show. On offer: pencils of “The Four Fives” — and eight-page short story by Joe Quesada and John Romita Jr. released in 2021 by Marvel Comics to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the attacks. The title references “Striking the Four Fives”, the tradition to ring out a series of bells when a firefighter falls in the line of duty. Five bell are struck, repeated four times, with a slight pause between each.
Proceeds from the sale will go to various organizations involved in supporting 9/11 survivors and first responders, including The Voices Center for Resilience. Other items available during the livestream include work from Jae Lee, Bob Layton, and more.
Originally started during the COVID-19 lockdowns as a means of keeping the thrill of original art collecting alive during a time when in-person conventions were forbidden, The Experience has carried on over the years inviting those new to the hobby and seasoned pros alike.
