Marvel Gives A Look Inside ‘Nova: Return Of The Rings’
by Tony Thornley
After years, one of Marvel Comics’ most prominent Latino characters returns in a new Marvel Voices special, as Sam Alexander returns in Nova: Return of the Rings.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latin American Heritage Month, Nova brings together Josh Trujillo, Rafael Louriero, and Bruno Abdias to celebrate Sam and Marvel’s Latin American characters. The story will see the return of one of the Marvel Universe’s most dangerous artifacts — the Mandarin’s ten rings of power — as a new ring-bearer attacks the Novas to try to acquire the Xandarian Worldmind. The only thing standing in their way is Sam Alexander!
In an interview with Marvel.com Trujillo paid out his goal with the story: “I wanted to write a Nova story that would be satisfying for longtime fans, but also accessible to people who may have never read about Sam before! What that meant for our team was an action-packed adventure that drew from and celebrated Sam’s incredible past.”
“There are moments in the comic that touch on his personal history, both with his family and also the Marvel Universe as a whole. It is incredible to see Rafael, Bruno and the entire team bring it to life!”
Check out the first colored, unlettered pages from the one-shot, and watch for it on October 14th from Marvel Comics.
