Image Comics Share Rob Liefeld Variant Covers For ‘Avengelyne’ #1 And ‘Chainkata’ #1

It would seem that Image Comics can’t get enough of Rob Liefeld, with two new variant covers revealed. One is for his new Avengelyne series — Avengelyne #1 Midnight variant, parodying Marvel’s own Midnight Universe title debuting this October- as well as a variant cover for Daniel Warren Johnson‘s Chainkata #1.

Here’s what Leifeld had to say about his Avengelyne #1 Midnight variant:

“Thrilled to welcome spooky season with this wicked Avengelyne #1 Midnight Variant. The countdown to an all new mission for our avenging angel starts at midnight! You don’t want to miss the storytelling of Daniel Mainé!”

And here’s Johnson on what it means to have Leifeld contribute a cover to his debut issue:

“Even when I was a kid, I could spot a Rob Liefeld cover the moment I walked into my local comic shop. His work has always been BOLD and FUN. Rob’s legendary status has only grown since I’ve gotten older, and his vocal love for my work has helped my career tremendously. Needless to say then, that him doing a cover for Chainkata feels like a full circle moment, and it’s something I’ll treasure forever. Thank you, Rob!!!!”

While Liefeld is currently winding people up online with his insistence that he was the sole creator of Deadpool, at least he still has fans at Image Comics. Even if he did leave Image Comics on less-than-friendly terms. And still avoids drawing feet.
