DC Comics Hosts A Live Reading Of ‘Absolute Batman’ #1 By Soundbooth Theater’s Jeff Hays

Happy belated Batman day to all those who celebrate!
Aside from taking the comics industry by storm the past 18 months, DC Comics has done one thing extremely well recently. They’ve taken landmark occasions in their history and turned them into fan celebrations worth noticing year after year. This year was no exception, particularly celebrating their biggest series of the century — Absolute Batman.
Absolute Batman by Scott Snyder, Nick Dragotta et al has been a landmark in the comics industry since its debut nearly two years ago. And to celebrate it during their nearly-three hour Batman Day live stream, they hosted a live reading of the issue that was more than just a reading — it was an experience.
Jeff Hays rose to popularity in the last year and a half as the audiobook narrator of Matt Dinniman’s viral Dungeon Crawler Carl series. Hays is a veteran voice actor and the CEO of Soundbooth Theater, an audio production company focused on the burgeoning LitRPG fantasy sub-genre. Bringing him in to not just do a reading, but a one-man dramatization of the hit debut issue was a brilliant move on DC’s part.
It’s always a blast to see voice actors at work. Hays throws his whole self into the reading, doing sound effects, voices and everything.
