NYCC 2026: IDW To Go Dark In 2027 With Horror Infecting Titles Like ‘TMNT’, ‘Hello Kitty’, And More
by Olly MacNamee
IDW has announced a new publishing initiative ahead of NYCC 2026 — IDW Goes Dark — by infecting some of its more mainstream comics with a little bit of horror in 2027. As well as titles such as A Quiet Place, Any Given Smile, and The Twilight Zone, IDW will be bringing the fears to the following titles throughout 2027:

- Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
- Sonic The Hedgehog
- Hello Kitty
- Godzilla
- Star Trek
- Plus, new IDW Dark originals will be announced
Here’s editor Heather Antos, Senior Group Editor and lead on the IDW Dark imprint, with her explanation of this new initiative:
“One of my earliest memories is the day I accidentally watched Stephen King’s It when I was nearly 5 years old. One of my first jobs was working in my local haunted house as a teenager. And one of the first comics I ever fell in love with was Hellblazer. We’ve been blown away by the way fans have embraced IDW’s horror books, and this is our opportunity to give them even more of what they love while pushing these characters and worlds into places they’ve never gone before. We’re bringing together incredible creators, iconic licenses, bold new ideas, and the absolute best damn comics we can make — and I cannot wait to see just how dark we can go.”
