NYCC 2026: Wizards Of The Coast Reveals ‘D&D’/’Star Wars’ Books
by Anton Kromoff
Welcome to the table,
Over 25 years ago, “Welcome to the medical bay” echoed through the halls of a seemingly abandoned space station circling a small ice moon in a largely unexplored system in the Outer Rim.
A party of smugglers had gotten word that the station could contain a large collection of highly valuable mining gear and abandoned tech. They could use these resources to pay off a gambling debt most of the party had accumulated, being regular frequenters of hives of scum and villainy.
What followed was a multi-year campaign that saw them clashing with Jedi, Sith, the Trade Federation, the Hutts, Bounty Hunters, what may have been a large sentient slime that took over a planet, and one of the most unhinged Force Zealots ever committed to the TTRPG table.
It was one heck of a fun TTRPG game and honestly has some of the most memorable NPCs I have ever created. “Welcome to the medical bay” became a vocal stim for us for years, even after we left a galaxy far, far away for other TTRPG landscapes.
You can imagine how double delighted I’m to hear the good people at Wizards of the Coast have released new details today at NYCC about its previously-announced collaboration with Lucasfilm and Star Wars.
Two books, D&D | Star Wars Core Rules and D&D | Star Wars, Tyro Squadron: Adventures are hitting the table in 2027.
Select artwork, including the cover of D&D | Star Wars, Tyro Squadron: Adventures (above), was also unveiled during the Disney/Lucasfilm publishing panel at New York Comic Con.
It seems in D&D | Star Wars, Tyro Squadron: Adventures, players will take the fight to the Empire as part of a secret Rebel crew. The book is set during the Original Trilogy with new stories unfolding as Luke and Leia fight their own battles across the galaxy.
Players will be able to fly daring missions, explore new corners of the galaxy, and help shape the Rebellion’s story their own way at the TTRPG table. Apparently, fans can also look forward to a Star Fighter encounter at Star Wars Celebration in April 2027 so that will be something we can look forward to!
Until next time, we don’t know a whole lot more at this time, but for now even these new images and a bit more insight on what is coming have really brought a smile to my face. I will be here waiting to report to you more as things come to the table.
