Kickstarting Comics: ‘A Scoundrel In The New World’ From Alain Ayroles And ‘Blacksad’ Artist Juanjo Guarnido
by Tito W. James
A Scoundrel in the New World is an ambitious collaboration between famed Blacksad artist, Juanjo Guarnido and author Alain Ayroles. The graphic novel is a creative adaptation of the Spanish literary character called Don Pablos of Segovia and the story follows this clever conman’s quest for the fabled El Dorado.
The beautifully painted graphic album features a “Rashomon-style” of storytelling where the reader must contend with an unreliable narrator. Lovers of period pieces, swashbuckling adventures, and classic Disney animation will be swept away by A Scoundrel in the New World.
It’s very exiting that the advent of crowd-funding allows for unique projects like this to flourish. Readers can back A Scoundrel in the New World, right now on Kickstarter.
