Set Out On A New Pirate Adventure In ‘Keelblade’ From Digital Confectioners

by Sage Ashford

Pirate games are becoming slightly more common, though still rare enough that the a new title in the subgenre remains noteworthy. So it is with Digital Confectioners’ Keelblade, a new pirate fantasy RPG.

The game introduces players to a world where they can craft their own pirate ship, then start traveling to distant islands to make a name for themselves. Unlike most pirate games, though, there’s a much bigger focus on combat that’s present even in this early trailer. The Steam page also mentions tougher and more challenging bosses on later islands, offering a glimpse at a few proper sea monsters.

Much like every other major pirate game, players will be able to work with their friends in up to six-player co-op. It’s also smart enough to make sure that quest progression is shared when playing together, so there’s no need to replay missions.

Currently, it feels like Windrose is the pirate game that has everyone’s attention. However, if the combat and customization in this game are done right, it’s possible Keelblade could take over when it drops next year in 2027.
