Everyone gather round and hear the quite exceptional news that the monumental series Five Ghosts is going to be returning for a fourth series in 2017 with issue #18. Five Ghosts paved the way for all kinds of genre combinations in indie comics since its initial publication in 2013, and has even infiltrated the mainstream through encouraging more interest in genre crossovers and mash-ups.
And now that series, written by Frank Barbiere (Violent Love, The White Suits, The Revisionist, Black Market) and drawn by Christopher Mooneyham, with colors by Lauren Affe, is coming back after a substantial hiatus.
The comic series, which has been optioned for TV, and has even received a deluxe edition, follows the life of master thief and adventurer Fabian Gray, who can, through occult methods morph into several different literary heroes and wield their powers. The pulp, fine-line style Mooneyham brings to the comics as well as Affe’s masterful instinct for color combinations, make the comics a joy to read and an experience you won’t forget.
We don’t know much more about the fourth series yet except it’s called, appropriately, “The Return”.
