The Paladins Face A Deal With The Devil In Voltron: Legendary Defender Season 5 Preview
by Erik Amaya
Voltron: Legendary Defender‘s fifth season is nearly here and it comes with a huge change to the status quo: Prince Lotor is working with the Paladins to end Zarkon’s stranglehold of the galaxy forever. Of course, there is one small problem: can the Paladins really trust Lotor?
You might also notice Lance stepping up a bit to lead the team in some of their upcoming decisions. Which seems crazy, but since we’re solidly Team Lance around here, we can’t wait to see if he’s up to the task. Meanwhile, Kieth is still with the Blades; which is the best possible place for him. But I can’t help but wonder if his choice to leave Voltron behind will ultimately lead him to another giant robot.
Maybe I’m reading too much into things, but I keep expecting the Vehicle Voltron to appear in some form before the series reaches its conclusion. In the original Voltron, the Vehicle Force team leader Jeff was indistinguishable from Kieth; though the two were presented as friendly rivals in a handful of crossover episodes. If Kieth and Jeff were to be the same person on Legendary Defender, that would sit quite well with me.
But perhaps the biggest sign that Vehicle Voltron might come to the show is the presence of Pidge’s brother Matt. In the original series, Chip, a member of the Vehicle Force, was said to be Pidge’s brother. Matt’s existence has been a running theme throughout Legendary Defender and his debut in season four suggests a new team is forming.
I wonder if Lotor will end up on that team should it come into exsitence.
Voltron: Legendary Defender returns March 2nd on Netflix.
