The Weatherman Inspires Synthwave Soundtrack Ahead Of Release
by James Ferguson
The upcoming sci-fi series, The Weatherman is set to debut next month from Image Comics. To whet your appetite prior to release, synthwave phenomenon Magic Sword has curated a soundtrack for the book featuring songs from today’s top synthwave artists including Dance with the Dead, Power Glove, Pylot, Le Matos, and Makeup and Vanity Set. The first track from the original soundtrack, Magic Sword’s “Colossus” is available now here.
The Weatherman, written by Jody Leheup, illustrated by Nathan Fox, and colored by Dave Stewart, was announced at this year’s Image Expo. It follows Nathan Bright, a man who has it all including an awesome girlfriend, a kickass dog, and a job as the top weatherman on terraformed Mars. When he’s accused of carrying out the worst terrorist attack in human history that wiped out nearly the entire population of Earth, he becomes the most wanted man alive and the target of a galaxy-wide manhunt. Is he responsible for such a heinous act? Why can’t he remember?
The Weatherman #1 will feature a regular cover by Nathan Fox, a variant by Marcos Martin, and another just announced limited variant by Matteo Scalera and colorist Matt Wilson, designed by Tom Muller. It’s scheduled for release on June 13th, 2018, coinciding with the release of the next track from the soundtrack. The final order cutoff date for comic book stores is Monday, May 21st.
