The Rugrats Return In ‘C Is For Chanukah’ Special Exploring Family, Belief, And Storytelling

by Hannah Means Shannon

Boom! Studios is debuting the news today here on that they’ll be publishing an all-new Rugrats one-shot special comic in November 2018 that will explore the stories and traditions of Chanukah with the humor you’ve no doubt come to expect from Rugrats.
Rugrats: C Is For Chanukah #1 will follow a Rugrats family vacation to the mountains, setting up an annual argument between Grandpa Lou and Boris over which holiday is better: Chanukah or Christmas.

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert writing duo of Daniel Kibblesmith (Quantum & Woody) & Cullen Crawford, alongside artist Kate Sherron (The Amazing World of Gumball), will be bringing this all-new story to life, which will lead Boris to prove his holiday is the best by giving Tommy and the babies a history lesson on the Golem, which fires their imaginations. After hearing this tale, Tommy, Chuckie, Phil and Lil feel that they have to save Chanukah from the Golem before it “steals the holiday away for good”.
Matthew Levine, Editor at Boom! Studios explains:

The Rugrats return to comic book form with a brand new take on a Rugrats classic…the story of Chanukah. Daniel, Cullen, Kate and the whole team have created a hilarious, heartwarming story about family, belief, and the unique power of storytelling, outfitted with all the hijinks you’d expect from your favorite babies.

Rugrats: C Is For Chanukah #1, will feature a cover by Chrystin Garland (Steven Universe), and is the latest release from Boom! Studios’ award-winning KaBoom! imprint, home to comics for middle grade and younger readers including licensed series such as Rocko’s Modern Life, Peanuts, and Garfield, along with original series like Mega Princess by Kelly Thompson and Brianne Drouhard, Bodie Troll by Jay Fosgitt, Ruinworld by Derek Laufman, and The Deep by Tom Taylor and James Brouwer.
