The Doctor And Friends Encounter Their First Alien World In A Preview Of Next Week’s Doctor Who

The new Doctor (Jodie Whittaker) made a spectacular landing on Sunday. And, as it happens, so did her new friends Ryan (Tosin Cole), Yaz (Mandip Gill), and Graham (Bradley Walsh). In fact, the only things missing from the otherwise great episode were the new title sequence (it debuts next week) and the TARDIS. And as this preview of next week’s show indicates, it still may be sometime before the Doctor and her friends find the Type 40 TT Capsule.
But at least everyone will learn about aliens and, possibly, more about this Doctor’s code of ethics. While she announced that she’s here to “sort out fair play” during the premiere, the dimensions of that purpose are not yet defined. There could be a ruthless streak hidden in the concept or something more kind. One imagines discovering that ethical framework will be as key to the Thirteenth Doctor’s early adventures as finding her missing ship.
