Though many guessed The Mandalorian‘s Pedro Pascal was playing the titular character, Lucasfilm finally confirmed the speculation as fact in a press release earlier today. His role is described as “a lone Mandalorian gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy.” Many are already speculating he is a revived Boba Fett despite executive producer Jon Favreau’s promise that the series will feature all new characters.
Of course, if he turned out to be Jodo Kast, we wouldn’t be sad about it.
Lucasfilm also updated the cast list, which now includes Emily Swallow, Carl Weathers, Omid Abtahi, and Werner Herzog. They join the previously announced Gina Carano and Nick Notle.
“We’re having a great time working with this incredibly talented group and excited for everyone to see what we’re up to,” said Favreau in a statement.
Meanwhile, we’re just reeling from the notion that Werner Herzog and Nick Notle are part of the Star Wars universe. Whatever their parts may end up being, just their mere presence changes the shape and feel of the story setting to something new and strange. We cannot wait to see them on the Outer Rim.
The Mandalorian is expected to debut with Disney+ late next year.
