Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse Wins Best Animated Feature At The Academy Awards

by Erik Amaya

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse won the Best Animated Feature award at the 91st Academy Awards on Sunday. The film broke a winning streak in the category by films produced by Pixar Animation Studio. In speaking to its appeal, co-producer Phil Lord audiences saw themselves in the film which features the Mile Morales Spider-Man and a number of other spider-themed characters.
Meanwhile, Marvel’s Black Panther won Best Production Design, Best Costume Design and Best Score. But it was not a sweep, as it did not win Sound Editing or Sound Mixing, Best Song or, most notably, Best Picture, which surprisingly went to Green Book.
