Meet The Mecha Of The Caribbean -The Mighty Grand Piton

The mecha genre as been a staple of anime and has garnered a worldwide fanbase. That’s why it comes as no surprise that the Caribbean Islands would have their own mech hero The Mighty Grand Piton.

The Mighty Grand Piton is a short film about a young English girl, Connie, who travels to the Caribbean Island of Saint Lucia for her school holidays with her family. There, she accidentally awakens a giant robot buried under the Twin Piton mountains on the south of the Island. This robot seems compelled to protect Saint Lucia but his origins are mysterious. No one knows where he came from or how long he’s been there. During the many years he’s lain dormant, The Mighty Grand Piton, became nothing more than the stuff of legend.

The Mighty Grand Piton’s animation is produced by The Line, known for their work on Amaro & Walden and the Gorillaz. The mecha action fuses perfectly with the energetic Caribbean music and gorgeous island setting.

From the teaser, The Mighty Grand Piton appears to have tonal variety like The Iron Giant. This project may include some serious threats to our heroes as well as some sci-fi fun.
