Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Comes To The Nintendo Switch

During Nintendo’s Fall Nintendo Direct, they revealed that Atlus’ Shin Megami Tensei x Fire Emblem crossover, Tokyo Mirage Sessions, would be coming to the Nintendo Switch as Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Encore. Originally a game on the Wii U, Nintendo goes into more detail below:

The game that brought together the worlds of Fire Emblem and ATLUS is coming to Nintendo Switch. Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Encore is the Nintendo Switch version of the acclaimed RPG that originally launched on the Wii U system. This new version of the game contains a new song that wasn’t in the original, new story elements and the ability to take it on the go! Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Encore launches for Nintendo Switch on Jan. 17.

Nintendo continues to bring over every worthwhile title from the Wii U over to the Switch, giving Wii U owners no reason to continue using the system.  After this, the only titles remaining appear to be Pikmin 3, Super Mario 3D World, and Xenoblade Chronicles X. Once those come out, nearly everyone will be able to safely dump their Wii Us in the trash where the system (though not the software) belongs.
Setting aside the general disdain for their previous system though, this is easily some of the best news we could have gotten concerning more Wii U ports.  TMS#FE was considered a very good game, but it was limited by the fact that no one seemed to own a Wii U.  In contrast, the Nintendo Switch only seems to get more popular by the day, with no signs of console sales slowing down.  Combine that with how much people love to game on the go, and Atlus’ recently popularity being bolstered by Persona 5, and there’s a strong chance that TMS #FE Encore will sell even better on the Switch that it did on the Wii U, joining the likes of Mario Kart 8, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and more.
Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Encore will release on the Nintendo Switch on January 17th, 2020.
