Kate And Alice Must Plot An Arkham Jail Break On Next Week’s Batwoman

by Erik Amaya

Kate (Ruby Rose) and Alice (Rachel Skarsten) are reunited once more. Of course, the nature of their reunion is of the gruesome sort, but at least their father Jacob (Dougray Scott) is around for part of it this time. And as this preview of next week’s Batwoman indicates, Alice will use their connection to get help in breaking Mouse (Sam Littlefield) out of Arkham Asylum. Will Kate take to being part of Alice’s gang or will a key moment push her back into the cowl?

Meanwhile, we continue to like the fact Batwoman is leading into more macabre, graphic material. The vision of the burnt Cartwright matron and the head of Alice’s mother are the exact sorts of things we want to see here. This is Gotham City after all, and the legacy of Batman’s villains should leave around people with an interest in flaying skin, dropping buckets of blood, and collecting severed heads. If nothing else, it is a great way to set the show apart from the other Arrowverse programs.
That said, bringing Kate and Alice closer together in mentality is also a good way to make the show different from the other windows on to Earth-Prime. And killing Cartwright (John Emmet Tracy) means Kate has to deal with a lot of unfortunate emotions. We hope at least one of the remaining episodes will cover some of that.
Batwoman airs Sundays on The CW.
