Sunday Service (Part 4): Jim Starlin’s ‘Dreadstar’ Returns After 30 Years With Your Support

by Olly MacNamee

Here’s one for all you old school Marvel fans out there, and yet another project that’s exceeded their initial goal. By over $30,000! But then, this is Jim Starlin, the co-creator of Thanos, we’re talking about and the return of a firm fan favourite Dreadstar in not one, but two new books from Ominous Press.
First up is an all-new epic 100 page graphic novel written and illustrated by Stalin and inked by long-time collaborator Jaime Jameson, with pledges offering up variant covers by Jamal Igle (The Wrong Earth) or Richard Pace (Second Coming) as well as other rewards, depending on how much you can afford.

Vanth Dreadstar has a huge problem.
A massively destructive force, something both unknown and terrible, is devouring Altarix, the capital planet of the Willow Consortium and jeopardizing all one thousand worlds under the Consortium’s rule.
If the Willow Consortium were to fall to this mysterious, other-dimensional force, what hope exists for the rest of the universe?
With the fate of all existence at stake can Dreadstar, along with the catlike Oedi, cybernetic psychic Willow and powerhouse Tueton, find a way to defeat this all-powerful menace?
When Dreadstar uncovers a hidden connection between this omnipotent nightmare and his own past, the answer becomes a resounding no.
After 30 years, Vanth Dreadstar finally returns… just in time to die!

Then, there’s also the Dreadstar Guidebook that you can pledge for separately, or as a pair. Do check out all the pledges and all the perks here now and return to a galaxy far, far away.
