Crowdfunding Comics: ‘Noir Is The New Black’ Is A New Anthology For New Voices From The Black Community

by Olly MacNamee

Crime Noir is well trodden genre – trodden by hardboiled gumshoes and femme fatales alike – and over the years has evolved into various sub-genres. One such sub-genre growing out of Crime Noir is Black Noir, which offers up the opportunity for a very different characters and viewpoint through the distinctive lens of African-American creators and reflecting all the best Crime Noir has to offer. Sizzling sexuality and heinous crimes, all deftly dark and mirky.
Noir is the New Black, launching today on Kickstarter, collects together 13 short stories from the past, present and future and from various African-American creative teams, some established and some new, offering up new Nour stories for the modern age. Publishers of Noir is the New Black, Fair Square Comics LLC, have been busy scouting for talent, mostly from US soil, and a total of 25 writers, artists, color artists and letterers have been commissioned to work on this new project. A project that will raise funds for Black Charity organizations, as well as proudly announcing they will be using the first-ever Black distributor too.

Already involved with this new anthology are Brandon Thomas (Excellence), Greg Burnham (Tuskegee Heirs), Sanford Greene (Bitter Root), Koi Turnbull (Fathom), Brandon Easton (Judge Dredd), Melody Cooper (OMNI), Christian Cooper (Starfleet Academy), Marcus Williams (Tuskegee Heirs), MD Marie (Vindication), Don Walker (Agent: Wild), Hannibal Tabu (Artifacts), Frank Yeiger (Sword of the Free), Greg A.
