Celebrate Princess Diana’s 80th Anniversary With ‘Wonder Woman Black & Gold’ Mini-Series
by Olly MacNamee
The year is Wonder Woman’s 80th anniversary and so DC Comics are putting their backs into celebrating with, amongst other things, a new six-issue anthology series starring the Amazon Princess. Following in the footsteps of both Harley Black, White & Red and the more recent Superman: Red & Blue, Wonder Woman Black & Gold, featuring black, white and… you guessed it, “gold”.
“Kicking things off, John Arcudi (B.P.R.D.) and Ryan Sook (Legion of Super-Heroes) re-unite to show us the grace immortality grants a hero. Becky Cloonan (Wonder Woman, Gotham Academy) weaves a spine-tingling tale of Diana’s most precious weapon against the darkness. Then Amy Reeder (Amethyst) takes us back to the Golden Age for a fun romp co-starring Etta Candy. AJ Mendez Brooks (Crazy is my Superpower, Dungeons & Dragons: At the Spine of the World) and Ming Doyle (Constantine: The Hellblazer) travel to Themyscira for a tense family reunion. And finally, Nadia Shammas and Morgan Beem (Swamp Thing: Twin Branches) show us a story of Diana’s past failures come to haunt her.”
