The Trust Is Broken On The Next Episode Of ‘The Flash’

That unsettling feeling you’ve had about the Speed Force (Michelle Harrison) is about to be confirmed. As seen in this preview for next week’s episode of the The Flash, the trust between Barry (Grant Gustin) and the Speed Force breaks down after the startling conclusion of this week’s show. But how is The Flash supposed to fight the very thing powering him? Will he and Cisco (Carlos Valdes) need to create another Speed Force? Or, is it possible this is once again the Reverse-Flash turning everything upside down?
According to The CW’s description of next week’s show, Barry will also seek out Harrison Wells (Tom Cavanagh) for aid. As it turns out, the actor quietly left the show following the first handful of episodes, but in a Deadline story highlighting his departure and Valdes’s imminent exit, it mentioned Cavanagh will appear in a handful of additional episodes before one final guest starring spot.
And, yeah, we are quite sad to hear Valdes is leaving. It left a pall over this week’s episode. But at the same time, we have to wonder if Danielle Panabaker is also planning her departure. Frost’s choice to spend life in prison is pretty surprising considering how much more fun Panabaker seems to have playing her over Caitlin. We think it could be the beginning of a way to write both of her characters out permanently. All these exits could be a good thing in the long run as younger character, potentially even a younger Flash, could rejuvenate the program.
We will say one other thing for the episode: we’re glad the state investigator story is seemingly over. She was so one note until she finally told Frost her story. Sure, we’d love to know the name of the meta she trusted while in action, but we’re just as happy to see the last of her.
