Koom Chats With Jen Jackson Of The British Columbia Environmental Film Festival

Jen Jackson is an oceanographer who, along with other collaborators, has started the B.C. Environmental Film Festival. She lives in Victoria, British Columbia, which might actually be the nicest city in Canada. The west coast of Canada traditionally has always been a place that is concerned with nature, marine life, and the environment. As an oceanographer and a committed feminist and environmentalist, Jen began the film festival with her collaborators as a way to address the very pressing needs of climate change.
The festival has a fairly broad social justice scope and has opened itself to films that challenge oppression in diverse ways. Though in its first year and fully online, the festival has attracted submissions from all over the world. Scheduled to run December 10th to the 15th and extremely accessible, the festival hopes to likewise draw in viewers from all over the world and keep growing as it moves forward.
