Mission: Impossible- Dead Reckoning is the seventh installment in the long running spy action franchise. This latest film will be the first of two parts. The Mission: Impossible films have always been hit or miss for me with some of the early installments being laughably bad. The first film I really enjoyed was Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol. I dug how the crew of secret agents were victims of “Murphy’s Law,” never had enough time, and their gadgets were breaking down.
Mission: Impossible- Rogue Nation had some unique set pieces but failed to leave a lasting impression. Mission: Impossible- Fallout was a pleasant surprise with grounded tech reminiscent of Black Mirror, a bathroom fight that echoed The Raid, and a climax worthy of an Uncharted video game.
Mission: Impossible- Dead Reckoning appears to be following Fallout’s prestige tone. Based on the trailer seen so far and the many homages to genre films that have come before, Mission: Impossible- Dead Reckoning could be an ending that elevates the whole series.
