‘Stargirl’ Season 3, Episode 10 Finally Reveals The Big Bad
by Frank Martin
It took a while to get here, but Stargirl has finally revealed the big bad villain for the season. It was quite a surprise twist and a great reveal, but it was maddening to get here. The season was all over the place as the mystery unfolded; sometimes to great results, and sometimes to mixed. Overall, though, the question remains as to whether the payoff for this villain will be worth the struggles this season had in order to reveal him. There are still several episodes to go, so fans will just have to wait and see.
The episode largely focused on Larry Crock (Neil Hopkins) and Paula Brooks (Joy Osmanski) — the former Injustice Society members Sportsmaster and Tigress — who genuinely wanted to turn a corner in their lives. Meanwhile, the Justice Society dealt with the ramifications of their fight with Cameron’s (Hunter Sansone) grandparents. They also had to come to a serious reckoning about who they are fighting and why. This goes doubly true for Rick (Cameron Gellman), who is dealing with his own problems now that he is Hourman at all times. Also, this episode gave an update on Cindy (Meg DeLacy), who’s dealing with a villain of her own. The story ends on the reveal. After the Crocks made a compassionate plea to Cameron’s grandparents, they stumble upon the true villains lair, who happens to be Cameron’s father, Jordan Mahkent (Neil Jackson) — aka Icicle. Of course, the couple die tragically in the closing moments.
No doubt their deaths will be used as fuel for the remainder of the season. The reveal was a very good twist and the season has certainly been building towards it. The way Cameron is positioned, finding out his father’s alive and a cold-hearted killer will have profound effects on his character. It’s primed to be a great climax to the season and the series. But the only question is whether or not it was worth it to get here.
