Basilisks, Iron Dragons, And Twisted Ents: Free League Unleashes ‘The Book Of Beasts’

by Anton Kromoff

Welcome to the table,

We live in a golden age of TTRPG, where some truly stellar publishers are out here making amazing content day in and day out. One of the best publishers who seems to always be coming out with fun new things is fan favorite Free League.

They have most recently announced a new addition to their Forbidden Lands TTRPG setting entitled Book of Beasts.

The Book of Beasts is a bestiary you can actually play. It showcases 28 new monsters with a ton of detail to really flesh out how you make use of them. Each beast comes ready to play with tailored random encounters, presenting the Storyteller with a handy set of mini-adventures that are ready to go.

This is the kind of thing I know a lot of gaming groups look for when they don’t have time to prep during a busy work week and want something a little more involved than just a hack and slash-bloodbath kind of gaming night.

Aside from the spectacular art, the book also includes legends about each monster, introduces the option to harvest resources from slain beasts, and lets players use their Lore skills to gain insight into a monster´s strengths and weaknesses.

If you have players who love to dive into the naturalism and problem-solving aspects of their RP this is going to help them round out the immersion experience at the table as well as give them ways to defeat, or at least survive, more encounters with the book´s monstrosities.

Among the monsters within these covers, you will find the Amphibian, the Basilisk, the Iron Dragon, the Twisted Ent, and many more, ready for use in any Forbidden Lands campaign! So be sure to grab a copy at the link and set out to hunt some monsters!

Until next time, Free League has not missed with an offering as of yet. If you are into monsters and the lore that goes with them I think this is going to be a must-have for your collection.
