College Humor Has Officially Rebranded To ‘Dropout’
by Anton Kromoff
Welcome to the table,
I have a ton of streaming channels. It often feels like every month I am canceling one that I have not watched in a few weeks and picking up another in the hopes that there is content there for me to enjoy. What I have found though that two or three stay regardless because there is always something there for me and one of my favorites is Dropout.

Well now, the online comedy giant CollegeHumor has announced their official rebrand from CollegeHumor to Dropout, the name of their subscription streaming platform that launched five years ago. CollegeHumor, founded in 1999 by Josh Abramson and Ricky Van Veen, will now formally be known to their online community of almost 40 million as Dropout, the home of hit shows like Dimension 20, Game Changer, and Make Some Noise.
In a video released by Dropout, CEO Sam Reich walks viewers through the last several years of content before comically destroying a laptop with the CollegeHumor logo on it. Abramson and Van Veen then give Sam their official blessing to let the name go and begin a new chapter as Dropout.
“Five years ago, we ‘dropped out’ of traditional media and went direct to our fans. We could never have imagined how meaningfully it would transform our business,” said Reich. “It has resulted in the healthiest, most creative, and most exciting version of the company to date. I stand shoulder to shoulder with our extraordinary talent, crew, and staff as we leave ‘college’ behind and continue to forge our own path. Turns out, this isn’t just a gap year.”
In January of 2020, IAC/InterActiveCorp sold a majority stake in CH Media, the parent company of CollegeHumor and Dropout, to Reich, CH Media’s then-chief creative officer. Reich has since shepherded the brand to where it is today, leading a group of content creators and comedic improvisers in the process to bring Dropout’s audience outrageously funny content, free from the limitations imposed by ad-supported and algorithm-dependent platforms.
Dropout is home to over 75 series, with a combination of short-form and long-form programming. New seasons of Dimension 20, Game Changer, Make Some Noise, Um, Actually…, Dirty Laundry, Play It By Ear, and Breaking News are released regularly, with several more new series in various stages of development and production.
It’s great for both background sound and for shows to watch. I work with Dropout streaming in the background, and it honestly has become part of my daily routine. For the sub price, you get a ton of content as well. It starts at $5.99 a month, or subscribers can purchase an annual subscription for $59.99 a year, and for what you are getting it honestly feels like the value is more than there.
