‘Pluto’ Coming To Netflix From Osamu Tezuka And Naoki Urasawa
by Tito W. James
When a murder occurs in an orderly world where robots are unable to kill humans, the robotic Europol investigator Gesicht takes the case. But the mystery deepens when he finds no trace of a human at the scene of the crime. As he pursues the truth, Gesicht uncovers the most evil manifestation of hate that history ever seen, one that is bent on bringing destruction to the world.
Pluto is a Scifi thriller by Naoki Urasawa (Monster, 20th Century Boys) inspired by characters and concepts from Astro Boy by Osamu Tezuka. This mature take on a kid’s superhero is like manga’s equivalent to Watchmen. Having read the manga I believe that this could be a great gateway series for those who don’t normally watch anime– or anime fans who are looking for something different.
Pluto starts streaming Thursday, October 26, 2023, on Netflix.
