Adult Animation Revolution: ‘Love Death+ Robots’ and ‘Predator: Killer of Killers’

Love Death + Robots is a Sci-fi animated anthology series developed by David Fincher and Tim Miller. The series has been ground-breaking in normalizing violent high concept adult animation for a mainstream audience. It’s been six years since Season 1 of Love Death + Robots hot Netflix and we’ve seen a lot of growth in adult animation since then. I’m thrilled by the quantity and quality of adult animated shows.

I’m be hyped for the next season of Love Death + Robots and Predator: Killer of Killers looks wicked. However, I wonder if adult animation will become oversaturated with violent action adventure shows. My concern is that we’ll have a wave of shows that are just glossy video game cutscenes– heavy on action but light on substance. Ultimately I want to see more variety within adult animated shows: light, dark, sexy, serious, silly, spiritual, and surreal.
