Abingdon Theatre Company’s Anniversary Gala Honors V and Mary Beth Peil

New York City’s Abingdon Theatre Company celebrated its 31st anniversary earlier in October with a swanky affair at the Edison Ballroom, which honored V (formerly Eve Ensler) and Mary Beth Peil.
V, a Tony Award-winning playwright, activist, performer, is best known for the The Vagina Monologues. She also worked as a consultant on Mad Max: Fury Road. Tony nominee Peil has starred in productions of Kiss Me, Kate; The King and I, and Anastasia as well as movie roles in Flags of Our Fathers and Collateral Beauty.
Stage and screen stars, including Victoria Clark, Donna Murphy, Kate Baldwin and Michelle Williams, celebrated the pair as well as the theater company. Chad Austin directed the evening by with music direction by Robbie Cowan.
Abingdon Theatre Company develops and produces new American work by emerging and established artists. Mainstage productions include the Off-Broadway premiere of Robin & Me: My Little Spark of Madness written and performed by Dave Droxler, the New York premiere of Queens Girl in the World, and Get on Your Knees.
