Female Scholars Explore Black History In ‘Stamped From The Beginning’

by Tito W. James

Oscar-winning director Roger Ross Williams brings Dr. Ibram X. Kendi’s best-selling book Stamped From the Beginning to life, using vivid animations and leading female scholars to explore the history of anti-Black racist ideas.

This documentary comes at a vital time when racism and white supremacy is sadly rearing its ugly head. I imagine that the rich animation will help entice some viewers to engage with the documentary even when it explores heavy topics.
