Sega Remembers Its Past In Announcing Five New Games
by Sage Ashford
During the Game Awards, SEGA announced the return of five of their classic IPs: Shinobi, Streets of Rage, Crazy Taxi, Jet Set Radio, and Golden Axe were all confirmed to be in development. It’s a massive change from the last decade or so, which has essentially just been Sonic the Hedgehog, Phantasy Star Online 2, the Like A Dragon series, and whatever Atlus is releasing.
While the trailer might make people think these are all part of a single game or platform, SEGA has confirmed these are in fact five separate releases that will come out over several years. Also confirmed is this announcement is focusing on the first wave of titles. Normally, speculation on behalf of stuff like this is risky, but if other titles are possible could SEGA perhaps go looking at some of their other older IP? Virtua Fighter has already experienced a resurgence–could games like Skies of Arcadia or even Phantasy Star Online 5 be far behind?
