The Owl House
Owl House is arguably the best animation to come out of Disney in the last half decade. Dana Terrace‘s Queer, Dark Fantasy, Magical Girl animated series is one in a million. This is the kind of show that opens doors, hearts, and minds to new possibilities. It’s been a long journey but those that grew up with the show will be better for it.
Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur
Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur is cut from the same cloth as Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse —characters express themselves with emoji-like thought-bubbles and the whole show is peppered with comic book flavored pop-surrealism. The creative team has embraced formalism utilizing stylized editing and limited animation to great effect. Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur shines stylization, offers a fresh take on homemade heroes, and delivers the unapologetic fun of Saturday Morning cartoons.
Kizazi Moto: Generation Fire
Kizazi Moto: Generation Fire. The series showcases 10 futuristic visions for Africa showcasing their talent with help from Peter Ramsey (Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse), Disney Africa and Disney Europe Animation. The short films embrace the best qualities of the African Futurism movement and the animated stories are sure to ignite imaginations for a new generation.
Yuki 7
Yuki 7 is an animated series from Studio Chromosphere inspired by the psychedelic spy adventures of the ’60s. Yuki and her companions have charming character dynamics and it’s hard not to love every character, including the villains. Yuki 7 has the potential to be an icon and an inspiration to kids everywhere.
